Environmental DNA (eDNA) and environmental RNA (eRNA) are rapidly advancing fields that help researchers and managers to identify the presence of target species. We worked with eDNA experts to develop 2 guides to support a consistent and best-practice approach to eDNA/eRNA testing in Australia and New Zealand.
The guidelines support the appropriate use of eDNA and eRNA methods, to increase uptake of these rapid, cost-effective and non-invasive monitoring methods.

Working with Biotext made our life so much easier, we could focus on content and leave all the hard work to [you]. The guidelines project would not have been nearly as successful without your help.

Our solution
Our content planning phase involved understanding the science, processes, requirements and constraints involved in eDNA testing. To include input from key experts, we attended meetings of the Southern eDNA Society Standards and Best Practices Committee, and consulted with eDNA experts and end users from across Australia and New Zealand.
Our scientific writing and content design processes focused on developing the best possible structure and clear information to support understanding and consistent testing methods. We worked with the authors throughout the development process, bringing together input from multiple experts and providing writing, editing and design to ensure the guidelines and processes were as clear as possible.
Our visual design process focused on leading users through key areas of the methodology, developing decision trees and information maps to guide action. The 2 guides were designed in clear complementary branding.
